Way back in March I photographed a beautiful couple expecting twins. I was all set to photograph their sweet twins as newborns but the girls had different plans. They arrived only a few weeks after our maternity session at around 32 weeks. Though an early birth isn’t particularly unusual for twins, what was unusual was the little Isabelle was born in need of surgery. Her esophagus was not connected normally to her stomach. On April 1st she had her first surgery (a temporary fix) to close her fistula preventing her saliva from moving into her lungs. Big sister Sophia went home at one week old while little Isabelle remained at BC Children’s Hospital until she was big and strong enough for her second surgery. At seven weeks of age she underwent surgery to connect her esophagus to her stomach and at three months of age she was finally home with her family. I had the pleasure of meeting these two sisters a few days before their 4 month birthday.
After a few shots at home we took advantage of the beautiful Summer weather and headed outside.
